So, you are the best man and need prepare the big speech.  Relax, it’s not as hard as you would believe.  Get a hold of some notes, wedding speech examples, or a best man speech guide to help you out.

The best friend of the groom is expected to deliver a witty and funny best man speech.  Although the speech is going to be funny, there are limitations and cultural rules to abide by.  There should not be too many jokes about ex-girl friends because they may be in attendance of the wedding!  Or worse yet, the bride may have never known of previous romances.  Just clear any jokes with groom before you say them at the wedding reception.

Keep in mind what your best friend says during his groom wedding speech as you don’t want conflicting stories.  It does happen.  It’s okay to give conflicting stories if you plan this out ahead of time to add humor to your talk.

The most important thing to consider when presenting your speech is to stay on the bright side of words. You do not want to appear as a killjoy by counting too stupid efforts of his best friend. What seems funny that in any way can not be fun for most of the guests. In general, the best man speeches are not meant to throw barbs at people that you really care about.

Keep your best man speech light and fun.  Be as relaxed as you can.  It’s not like delivering a speech for a college class or business presentation.  This is a talk with your best friends.  Be very conversational.   Make frequent eye contact.

Go easy and light on the alcohol before your moment on the stage.  You have the rest of the night to indulge.
